Community

Jabori Foundation has a strong focus on community integration. By developing partnerships with local businesses, schools, churches and government departments, we are creating a network of support that extends beyond our own initiatives.

This community focus is not just about the services provided; it’s about building relationships and fostering a sense of belonging.

Our community engagement initiatives focus on creating programs that provide resources and support to those in need, helping families to become self-sufficient and therefore, building strong communities.

Through supportive groups, educational workshops, community trainings and inclusive activities, we create a nurturing environment where individuals can gain the skills and knowledge necessary to improve their circumstances. Over the last few years, advocating for individuals with disability and reducing the stigma surrounding disability has become a crucial aspect of our work to create inclusive communities, where every child, regardless of their ability, is valued and has the opportunity to shine.

Together, with the community we serve, we are building a healthier, more vibrant community for everyone.

DISABILITY

Supporting families with disabled children is crucial in fostering a nurturing environment where both caregivers and children can thrive.

Jabori Foundation offers regular support group meetings, creating a safe space for caregivers to share experiences, challenges, and triumphs. These gatherings not only provide emotional support but also encourage a sense of community among participants, allowing them to connect with others who understand their situation.

In addition to emotional support, we offer educational workshops tailored for caregivers. These sessions focus on key areas such as play and communication, equipping caregivers with practical strategies to engage with their children effectively and promote development.

By combining emotional support with educational resources, we help caregivers to not only understand their child's needs better but also to advocate for them effectively.

HOLIDAY CLUB

The Holiday Club is open to all primary school aged children in Njoro and runs Tuesday – Friday during the school holidays (April, August and November). The children enjoy games, bible teachings, worksheets, mentoring and a meal.

SATURDAY CLUB

The challenges faced by young males often stem from a lack of positive role models, leading to issues such as low self-esteem, poor academic performance, and engagement in risky behaviours.

Every week boys are welcomed to our Saturday Club to engage in structured activities that promote fellowship and accountability rooted in Christian values. During the club, boys learn new practical skills, play games, and can discuss any issues they are facing in a safe and nurturing environment.

FOOD BANK

Our food bank plays a crucial role in the local community by bridging the gap between surplus food and those facing hunger.

Donations of food from individuals and local businesses are distributed once a week to families who have been referred to Jabori Foundation and are not able to provide regular meals at home due to poverty. The food bank acts as a short-term emergency measure while we work with the families on a long-term plan, equipping them with the skills and tools needed to become self-sufficient.

BIBLE STUDY

The weekly Bible Study offers an opportunity for all people to deepen their faith and find solace and reassurance in the teachings and promises contained within God's Word. As scripture is explored, individuals gain a greater understanding of spiritual concepts such as love, forgiveness and redemption, leading to a stronger connection with their faith and the community around them.

MEN'S TABLE TALK

The weekly Men's Table Talk brings men together from all walks of life in a relaxed and informal environment where they can share personal experiences, offer support and be encouraged through God's Word. It is a great way for men to connect with others and build relationships within the community as well as deepening their knowledge of God.

GRACE GROWS

Grace Grows is a project aiming to reduce childhood malnutrition and promote self-sufficiency through education and practical skills. By offering training on the establishment and maintenance of kitchen gardens and the rearing of small livestock we aim to ensure that every child has access to the nutrition they need to live, grow, and thrive.
