Family Care

Embedded in the heart of the community, Jabori Foundation is dedicated to uplifting families by offering support that strengthens, prevents breakdown and promotes self-sufficiency.

In an area with high levels of unemployment, poverty, addiction and HIV, we recognise the urgent need for a nurturing environment where families can thrive. We receive referrals from Njoro Children’s Services, Social Workers, Police, village Chiefs, Community Health Volunteers, schools and other community level individuals.
At Jabori Foundation, we adopt a holistic approach by addressing the immediate and basic needs of families while providing long-term solutions through education and support aimed at self-sufficiency. Following a needs assessment, we offer immediate assistance such as hospital fee coverage and food bank access, alongside a long-term action plan. This includes support for training courses that lead to employment and small business initiatives, with each caregiver receiving basic business skills training prior to starting their ventures.
As part of our support for the children in the family, we ensure that each child who is school age is either placed in a local school, or polytechnic for the older ones. We believe it’s important to partner with the caregiver and not just give handouts, caregivers need to feel part of the process and take control of their futures, so they are offered work at our APT workshop and then they are able to save part of the costs of starting businesses or school admission fees etc. Alongside this we assist caregivers with the processing of birth certificates, ID cards and Disability Cards. These are essential documents that many do not have because of, either not knowing how to apply, or they cannot afford the fees.
Our support extends beyond services, addressing the unseen burdens families face. Our weekly caregiver support group provides essential emotional support, allowing individuals to share experiences, encourage each other, and build friendships, which helps alleviate isolation. Additionally, these meetings educate caregivers on positive parenting techniques to strengthen the family unit and prevent breakdown.
We believe that by building stronger families, we contribute to the development of healthier communities.
